Dorothy Stickney was born in Dickinson, North Dakota on June 21st, 1896, to parents Dr. Victor Stickney and Margaret Hayes Stickney, and died in New York City on June 2nd, 1998. Stickney was a successful Broadway actor and she also had success in several television programs. Stickney Hall at Dickinson State Teachers College was named after her father, Dr. Victor Stickney. The Theodore Roosevelt Symposium was held in honor of Theodore Roosevelt's 100th birthday. Senator John F. Kennedy spoke at Dickinson State Teachers College on April 12th, 1958, the first of five speakers during the year.
