Abstract
As
educators
focused
on
second
language
learning
,
we
must
acknowledge
that
technology
permeates
virtually
every
aspect
of
our
students'
lives.
Indeed
, there
is
a
wealth
of
material
available
online
in
all
major
languages
at their
disposal.
This
study
will
investigate
online
role-playing
games
designed
for
entertainment
purposes
and how they
might
be
used
not
only
to
learn
a
language
, but to
increase
motivation
and the
desire
to
spend
time
in the
target
language.
In
addition
,
it
will
discuss
technical
issues
encountered
and how they
might
be
solved.
Finally
,
it
will
take
a
look
at the
role
of the
teacher
in
such
an
undertaking
and
analyze
the
structure
necessary
to
make
a
computer
game
educational.
