| Title | Dr. Nils Tronnes in Norway |
| Date of Original | between 1900-1904 |
| Description | A group of people, mostly men with two women, pose inside for a portrait. The center man is sitting in a suit, while the rest sit or stand around him wearing white garments. It appears that they are in a educational medical room, as the ground floor has a gurney and a shelf with bottles, and there are raised areas with spindle railings to view the surgery. There are also lights and a clock on the back wall. |

| Biography/History | Dr. Nils Tronnes came to Fargo in 1904 from Norway, and with Dr. Olaf Sand he started a small hospital called St. Olaf's. Together, with several other doctors and community members they organized St. Luke's Hospital and the Fargo Clinic. Dr. Tronnes detailed journal revealed that he and Dr. Sand (co-founding physician) performed about 12,000 surgical operations during their 47 years of practice in Fargo. He was elected to the American College of Surgeons in 1920. |
