The men share their memories from World War II, such as living conditions in the South Pacific, wages, the reception of American soldiers by Australian citizens, and opinions on commanders. Oscar Rolfness was an engineer for amphibious landing crafts. Burtell was part of the intelligence recon outfit for the North Dakota National Guard in Co. K out of Dickinson and was part of the Guadalcanal Campaign. Martin Rolfness, Oscar's cousin, was a gunner on Navy SBD-Dive Bomber and later became a pilot. After the war, Martin was part of patrols between Guam and Japan. |
