| Transcription | "The Farmers Home, corner 2nd St. and 3rd Ave SW (1965), and now owned by Miss Gladys Youmans, was built in 1882 by A. J. Smith, who came here from Missouri. He engaged in the hotel and livery business in Jamestown for 20 years, and also purchased land in Wells county where he and his family were prominent in the development of that area. Mr. Smith owned one of the first automobiles brought to North Dakota and the first one, an Oldsmobile, in Jamestown. The family left Jamestown in 1905 for Evansville, Ind., where he died in 1914. He was the father of the late Mrs. Louis (Emma) Cadieux "--Printed on back of photograph. |
