| Biography/History | Jamestown College was founded in 1883, six years before North Dakota even became a state. A milestone was reached on June 11, 1913. The cornerstone of Taber Hall, the new science building, was laid, and the first college degrees were given to the five members of the class of 1913. In the brief space of four years, the neglected campus with one dilapidated building had become a thriving educational center with five buildings and a substantial endowment. Taber Hall was donated by Mrs. Cyrus McCormick and was christened "Taber Hall" at her request in appreciation of the energy, wisdom, and self-sacrifice of Mr. Henry M. Taber, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. |
