Biography/HistorySam Rogness was born in Pierce County. He was reared on a farm north of Manfred and later worked for a time in a garage in Fessenden. He married Lily Ruth Pepple in 1927. She died in 1944. Sam and Lily had two sons, Allan and Richard, both now deceased. On July 15, 1948 he married Myrtle Mortenson in Harvey. Myrtle Mortenson Rogness taught the lower grades in Manfred for over 30 years. Myrtle passed away February 28, 2006 at the age of 94 years. Their home is now the headquarters for Manfred History and Preservation, Inc. and the Manfred Heritage Museum.
