The older ones called themselves "The Gimmy Gang" the other "The Takeme Gang" This picture is of the Gimmy Gang. Most became war veterans. Biography/HistorySix of these young men, Bill Norton, James Thomson, Ray Bechtel, Ed (Chid) Kibler, Chester Armstrong, and Garnet Truemner, were all in the Cavalier, N.D. graduating class photograph of 1911.
Bill Norton, Jim Thomson, Ray Bechtel, Garnet Truemner and Ed (Chid) Kibler were all on a 1900's Cavalier baseball team together.
James Thomson, William Norton, Edward Kibler, and Ray Bechtel were all on the 1909 Cavalier, N.D. Football Team which is online in Dakota Mosaics, Image number PCHS5078.
Ray Bechtel was on the Drayton Baseball Team in 1920 that won the Pembina County pennant and was the second to none in this part of the Northwest. They put Drayton on the map and in the limelight as a baseball town. Dr. R.E. Bechtel was the team manager from 1916-1920 and helped make the semi-professional team and brought honors to the city of Drayton, N.D.
