Biography/HistoryThe history of the Moscow Kremlin (fortress/citadel) dates back to the 10th century and the reign of Prince Yuri of Kiev (Yuri Dolgorky) who is considered to be the founder of Moscow. Although in the 18th century, Peter I transferred the capital of Russia to St. Petersburg, tradition called for the coronation of Tsars to be in Moscow. In 1917 the seat of government was transferred back to Moscow. The Moscow Kremlin consist of the Kremlin wall and towers and with the Kremlin are four palaces and four cathedrals. The Kremlin overlooks the Moskva River to the south.
