| Biography/History | "These prints show the garden west of Science Hall when it was well seeded or planted by sod to native grasses with intermittent congener beds of wheat. Good success was made on planting the native sods until there came a time when a number of beds were seeded with various grass seeds sent from the Bureau of Plant Industry of Washington. With these seeds were introduced large amounts of quack grass seed which eventually overrun the garden of grasses so that it was necessary for us to plow it up. The garden was later planted to separate planting of Grim Alfalfa, potato plantings for certification, etc." (typewritten notes with photographs by H.L. Bolley) |
