| Transcription | "Among the innovations in the production of type for The Fargo Forum's news pages has been the installation of teletypesetters and automatic line-casting machines. The teletypesetters, connected to line-casting machines, produce news stories in type from perforated tape, as in the above picture. Operator Al Nordhougen only has to sit and watch and change tape. He can take care of up to three machines at one time. The casting machines are activated by the various perforations in the tape, automatically set the stories into type, ready for use in printing the newspaper. The equipment was installed about 15 months ago in an effort to speed the production of type and is used to handle much of the telegraph news. The tape is perforated by telegraphic impulses.
