| Transcription | "Spawining camp- Spawning operations conducted by the State Game and Fish Department took place at this 'camp' on the northern end of Lake Ashtabula last week. Empty boat at the top of the picture marks one of the two nets used to trap northerns. Two boats toward the center of the picture are being used to take northerns to holding net near the shore. Boat on shore marks the spot where fisheries workers stripped the northerns of eggs and milt, for eventual transfer to the federal fish hatchery at Valley City." - caption with image published in The Fargo Forum, April 29, 1956, p.
