| Biography/History | Pauline Shoemaker homesteaded along the Knife River in Mercer County, N.D. in 1911. She was from Pennsylvania and came to North Dakota in 1902 and taught school in Bismarck and elsewhere in the state. In 1914 she married a neighbor Matt Crowley. Her biographical sketch is on pages 235-238 in the book, Land in Her Own Name. |
