| Biography/History | "Pictured is the Spanish-American War Memorial on the Walsh county Courthouse grounds. Erected in 1900, the limestone pillar with the soldier standing at ease on top caried the names of those who lost their lives in the Philippines, a brief history of the campaign, the inscription 'You can't stampede the 1st North Dakota' and the inscription 'Erected by Walsh County and its citizens, A.D. 1900, in honor of their heroic dead.'" |
