| Biography/History | "Two other outstanding Moderne structures in Fargo were the Fargo Sports Arena and Island Park Pool in Island Park. They were designed in 'streamline' Moderne, as variation which took its inspiration from the aerodynamic imagery of the airplane. They have smooth surfaces, round windows and rounded corners... The old municipal pool, designed by Marius Houkom in 1939, was, like the Arena, a W.P.A. project." - Fargo's Heritage, by Norene A. Roberts. 1983, p. 22. |
