Biography/History
Sanish
was
flooded
in the
1950s
with the
completion
of
Garrison
Dam
and the
creation
of
Lake
Sakakawea.
The
town
site
was
relocated
to
higher
ground
with the
new
town's
name
New
Town.
The
Verendrye
Bridge
was
completed
in
1927
and was
only
the
second
bridge
to
cross
the
Missouri
in the
state.
