Biography/History
About
1883
the
Klinkert
brothers
came
to
Fargo
and
opened
the
Red
River
Valley
Brewing
Company.
They
built
the
brewery
just
south
of the
Great
Northern
Railroad
tracks
near
the
intersection
of
Oak
Street
and
5th
Avenue
N.
The
brewery
went
out
of
business
in
1889
when
North
Dakota
became
a
state
, and
prohibition
was in the
state
constitution.
The
facility
remained
vacant
until
about
1909
when
it
was
torn
down.
