"Badly smashed, this new Cass county road patrol machine is shown lying across the tracks of the engine of a Milwaukee railroad mixed train which struck the machine two miles south of Fargo Thursday morning killing the patrol operator Peter Schreiner, veteran Cass County highway department employee. Peter Schreiner, highway department employee, was struck by a Milwaukee mixed train while he was driving a 13-ton road patrol. Parts of the $6,810 machine, in service for only two weeks, were strewn along the tracks 235 feet from the crossing.

Biography/HistoryPeter Schreiner was born 26 Aug 1883 at Rockville, Minn., near St. Cloud. Died 18 Oct 1945, Fargo, N. D. Married to Louise Zellner, 1905 in St. Cloud, Minn. Children left were son, Leo and daughter, Mrs. Ben Faber, and four grandchildren. Mr. Schreiner, who was 62 at the time of his death, had entered employment of the Cass County Highway Department in 1922.
