| Biography/History | Charles Cotter was born July 27, 1847 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Union Army in 1864 in the Minnesota Cavalry. In 1870 he began working for the railroad, becoming a locomotive engineer. In 1880 he moved to North Dakota and became a real estate dealer, owning land in Barnes Township, Cass County, N.D., near Fargo. He married Bridget Blake in 1872 and had three children. He died May 21, 1933. |
