Fargo Sea Scouts' drum and bugle corps paraded the streets of Detroit Lakes Saturday night for the benefit of the Detroit Lakes post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In Fargo Sunday, the Sea Scouts paraded about the city to open the Junior Chamber of Commerce clothing drive, and Monday night gave a short concert at the Better Homes exposition, thus winding up a packed weekend of work. Personnel of the corps is William Magill, drum major; DeLaurence Nelson, Warren Bennet, Harvey Melquist, John Hayes, drummers; Don Buchanan, Frank Mumm, Neil Fisher, William Knapp, buglers; Paul Christenson, bass drummer; Charles Lowe, cymbals. ‘Happy Jack' Shelley is instructor. The unit is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars." "Sea Scouts' Group Will Spend Weekend At Lakes. The Fargo Sea Scouts drum and bugle corps, newest musical organization in the city, will spend the weekend at Detroit Lakes. ‘Happy Jack" Shelley, corps instructor, will be in charge. The boys will leave Friday and return Sunday. The drum and bugle corps will make its first public appearance Sunday in a parade up Broadway. The corps will play Monday at the opening of the better homes program in the Crystal ballroom Monday night.
