| Biography/History | Hans H. Aaker was born on April 16, 1862 in Ridgeway, Iowa. He attended Luther College and Valparaiso University prior to assuming responsibility for the commercial department at Willmar Seminary in Willmar, Minnesota. Aaker was one of the founders of the commercial department at Concordia, which he supervised until he assumed the presidency in 1893. Aaker served as Concordia's second president from 1893 to 1902. In 1902, Aaker resigned from Concordia and opened a business college in Fargo. He remained in charge of the business college until 1918 when he moved to Grand Forks to operate a similar school. In addition to these roles, Aaker also served as mayor of Moorhead. He died in November 1929 from complications with illness and surgery. Annette (Peterson) Aaker was born on August 2, 1864 in Chicago, Illinois to John C. and Christine Peterson. After finishing high school in Minneapolis, she attended Gustavus College.
