| Biography/History | Fort Berthold was destroyed by the Sioux in 1862. The abandoned Fort Atkinson, located in the same area, was rebuilt and renamed Fort Berthold, usually referred to as Fort Berthold II. In 1870 Fort Berthold Indian Reservation was established and the fort became the agency headquarters. |
