| Biography/History | The Hickory Hardware Store was opened in 1906 by Ludwig Schauer. After his death in 1921, the store was purchased by Ludwig Thurn and Philip Weisz. In 1923, Thurn bought out Weisz. Ludwig Thurn's son Adolph soon joined the store as clerk, and Adolph bought his father's interest out in 1942. The store was enlarged and renovated in 1956, and a new front added in 1959. Jacob Bertsch joined the store as clerk in 19563. |
