Transcription"Rodeos are a popular sport in North Dakota. Cowboys pit their brains and their brawn against the critters, with the outcome being uncertain in all cases. Rodeo is one sport that had its beginnings in a working situation, nearly all the events have their origins in some ranch task. Saddle bronc riding goes back to increasing the string of working cowponies and calf roping goes back to branding time and identifying to what ranch the young one belonged. Rodeos are held throughout the year in the Bismarck-Mandan area"--Typewritten on label affixed to back of photograph.
