blockhouses

Fort
McKeen

reconstructed

accessible
to the
public.
You
may
climb
a
ladder
stairway
inside
the
blockhouses
to the
fenced
roof
and
view
the
surrounding
territory
as the
infantry
may
have
done.
Fort
Lincoln
was the
headquarters
of
Lt.
Col.
George
Custer
and the
Seventh
Cavalry
and was
built
to
protect
engineers
and
workers
for the
railroad.
The
original
sites
of
both
forts
are
marked.
The
park
contains
a
museum
and
interpretive
