Transcription"Fort Lincoln State Park is home to an infantry post, Fort McKeen, and a cavalry post, Fort Lincoln. The blockhouses of Fort McKeen have been reconstructed and are accessible to the public. You may climb a ladder stairway inside the blockhouses to the fenced roof and view the surrounding territory as the infantry may have done. Fort Lincoln was the headquarters of Lt. Col. George Custer and the Seventh Cavalry and was built to protect engineers and workers for the railroad. The original sites of both forts are marked. The park contains a museum and interpretive center"--Typewritten on label affixed to back of photograph.
