| Biography/History | The first landing strip in Bismarck was a pasture between Bismarck and Mandan. The first true airport owned by the city was constructed in the 1920s on South Washington on leased property. In 1940, the city purchased 140 acres. In 1947, the city acquired an additional 160 acres for the airport. This photograph is set in the middle of this growth. |
