Notes Title created by staff. Relation [Is Part Of] North Dakota eighth grade curriculum Biography/History The Soo Line opened the northwest portion of North Dakota. The railroad brought settlers to farm land northwest of Minot and provided elevators so that farmers could send their grain to market by train. This photo shows farmers marketing their grain in Kenmare. The Soo Line extended through this area in 1893. Kenmare became a major grain collection and shipping point.
