This mine was located in Sections 5 and 6 of Indian Creek Township in Hettinger County, about 5 miles northwest of Regent. This is a small mine, but the map shows the typical "drifts" or shafts that allowed miners to follow a coal seam. Today these maps are preserved to assist emergency personnel in case of a coal fire, or a tunnel collapse. The Jackson and Blank Mine, also known as the Red Star Mine, Blank Mine, or Jackson Mine was operated as a slope mine in Hettinger County between 1923 and 1927. It produced 6000 tons of coal for the commercial market and employed up to 11 workers.
