| Biography/History | Rudy Hummel joined Civilian Conservation Corps Company 795 in 1933 at Fort Abraham Lincoln in Bismarck, N.D. Company 795 was later shipped to New England, N.D., where some men worked on the Heart River Dam. Other men were later sent to a spike camp at the Hettinger Airport, while the main camp went to Mott, N.D. to work on a dam on the Cannon Ball River. The winter camp for company 795 was in Fair Park, Arkansas. Company 795 helped build parks and helped with flood relief. Rudy Hummel also spent time doing CCC work in Hibbing, Minn., Fort Abraham Lincoln, Valley City, and Devils Lake, N.D. He was discharged from the CCC in 1935. |
