L.L. Twichell served in the North Dakota house from 1913-1916, and again from 1919-1944. He served as speaker in 1921, as majority leader in 1931 and 1941-1943, and minority leader in 1939. He died in office in 1944. He was the brother of Treadwell Twichell.
