| Biography/History | Dorothy Stickney was born in Dickinson, and acted in Vaudeville and summer stock before beginning on Broadway in 1926. She gained fame and awards for her role as Mother in the long-running production of "Life With Father", in which she starred with her husband Howard Lindsay. She received the Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award in 1961. Howard Lindsay was born Herman S. Nelke in 1889. He was a theatrical producer, director, playwright, and actor. He was a frequent collaborator with Russel Crouse, with whom he shared the Pulitzer Prize for drama with 1946's The State of the Union. They also won a Tony award together for The Sound of Music. Lindsay worked with his wife Dorothy Stickney in the long-running play Life With Father, and later in Life With Mother. |
