| Biography/History | Harry Roberts was born in Mankato, Minn. in 1891 and moved with his family to Billings County, N.D. when he was three weeks old. He married Hulda Carlson in 1913, and they both lived on a homestead in Billings County. The Roberts operated the Amidon Hotel for five years, then they moved to Mott where they operated a coffee shop. In June of 1941, the family moved to Medora, where Harry Roberts became the first caretaker of the Chateau de Mores State Historic Site. Hulda Roberts died in 1959. Harry married Ruth Merz in 1961 and remained caretaker at the Chateau de Mores until 1966. |
