Biography/HistoryFort Buford was constructed in 1866 and disbanded in 1895. The town of Buford was founded one mile to the north in 1897. Three original buildings stand today: the magazine, the non-commissioned officers' quarters and the officers' quarters. Fort Buford became a state historic site in 1924.
