Biography/HistoryRiverdale, N.D. was created as a construction camp to house workers building the Garrison Dam. When the dam was completed in 1953, some residents of other construction camps relocated to Riverdale permanently. The town was turned over from the federal government to the state of North Dakota in 1986.
