| Transcription | "Agricultural College, Administration Bld., Fargo, N.D."--Printed on front of postcard. "Dear Karen, well I suppose you have my nice letter now. It was fierce but I sent it anyway. We had blizzard all day yesterday so we staid at home all day long. It was quite a long day but there are only four more Sundays left now so I feel pretty good anyway. Am going to melt snow and wash my hair today. I think the rest of the girls will do it too, so you can just picture 4 girls sitting around with their beautiful tresses. Don't fail to write soon. Lovingly, Elise. Miss Karen Brende, Williston, N.D."--Handwritten on back of postcard. |

| Biography/History | Old Main was the first building on the North Dakota Agricultural College campus in 1891. It still stands and is still used as a building for administrative offices. Though the Morrill Act providing land to support state agricultural and mechanical colleges was passed in 1862, North Dakota could not take advantage of the law until it achieved statehood. In 1890, the college was organized and hired a small faculty of agricultural specialists. The school was known as the "AC" until it became North Dakota State University in 1960. The administration building, known as "Old Main" is today one of the oldest buildings on campus. |
