Maude Fleek married Edward Cuskelly, the adopted son of Michael and Kitty Cuskelly in 1913. The Cuskellys lived on a ranch on the Little Missouri River until they moved west of the Killdeer Mountains in 1919. Michael Cuskelly was one of seven children, and grew up to ranch on his father's land.
