| Biography/History | Esther Hansen was born in New Lisbon, Wisc. in 1896. She moved to North Dakota in 1915 to teach school in Dunn County. Jim Vaagen and Esther were married in Wisconsin in 1918. The Vaagens had three children, Ruth, Garth, and Wesley. Wesley was killed in an accidental shooting in 1941. Jim worked on his own land near Werner, and on other ranches and in the area. Esther wrote a column for the Killdeer Herald from 1927 until her death in 1984. |
