The Marquis de Mores packing plant in Medora started construction in June 1883, and the first cows were slaughtered in October of that year. The plant was expanded in 1884, and the smokestack finished in 1885. The plant closed in November 1886. The buildings would be destroyed in a fire in 1907, leaving only the brick chimney standing.
