| Biography/History | George Francis Will, Sr. was born on November 8, 1884. He was the son of Oscar H. Will, owner of the Oscar H. Will & Company. George graduated from Bismarck High School in 1902 and Harvard in 1906 then took over his father's business in 1917. Throughout his lifetime, George was considered an archaeologist, anthropologist, ethnologist, naturalist, nurseryman, seedsman, and historian. He worked with the Mandan and Arikara tribes to learn about crossbreeds of corn for his seed business. In addition, he was president of the State Historical Society of North Dakota between 1942 and 1955. |
